Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
At VoiceJournal AI, your privacy and data security are our highest priorities. This Privacy Policy explains exactly how we handle your data — clearly and without legal jargon.
Privacy First, Always
We never sell your data. We never share your journal entries with third parties. Your voice and your words are yours — forever.
1. Information We Collect
Audio Recordings: We capture your voice when you actively choose to record a journal entry.
Transcripts: Text generated from your audio recordings.
App Usage Data: Anonymous diagnostic data to help us improve the app.
2. How We Process Your Data
Your audio recordings are temporarily sent to secure transcription APIs (like OpenAI) for the sole purpose of converting speech to text. The text is then analyzed for mood and sentiment. We do not use your recordings to train our own public AI models, and our API partners are bound by strict data processing agreements not to use your data for training.
3. Local Storage & Backups
By default, your journal entries are securely stored on your device using encrypted local storage (Hive). If you enable cloud backups, your data is exported safely. You have full control over your data.
4. Biometric App Lock
If you enable App Lock, your biometric data (Fingerprint/FaceID) is processed entirely locally on your device by the OS. We do not have access to your biometric templates.
5. Your Rights
You own your data. You can export your journal at any time or use the "Delete All Data" feature in Settings to permanently erase all entries and metadata from your device.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app.
